Fewer drugs would not be so bad when pharmaceutical companies play needless games to extend patents that keep prices high. We do not need another derivative of buprenorphine when it should be a generic. Making new patents on old drugs should be stopped.

I like a lot of what you have to say, but this clip isn’t particularly informative. If 30 fewer drugs is a 10% reduction then we have 270 “affordable drugs” versus 300 “unaffordable drugs”... That actually is quite reasonable.

I said “informative”, but what I meant was that this clip is not persuasive. At least not in the direction you’re advocating.

We already have barriers to competition thanks to Bush Jr. changing FDA funding from taxpayers to fees from the drug companies. The FDA now actively colludes to block drug innovations to protect their funding from the companies who own the old patents. Fix that, please.

We still shouldn’t have to subsidize pharma R&D for the entire planet. My inhaler costs $400/month. The EXACT SAME inhaler costs ~$50 in Canada. Outrageous!
