-irritating is seeing a family member serve the country, pay into social security their entire life then get ill & have to wait months to get social security-which was approved 6 months later ON THE DAY HE DIED. Yet people who have NEVER paid into the system get help right away.

Do they? I feel for your loss, but are you angry at something that doesn’t happen? I am going to follow up on this with someone I know in SS. I want verification. I think there are so many false stories out there designed to make us angry and drive our views.

I’d rather get all of my money back that I’ve paid in, never pay into it again and put al of that into my 401k that’s growing at over 15% and no politician has say so over it

Dan - my entire adult life I’ve heard every election cycle that we need to “save social security”. When is someone going to finally follow through on the promise to end waste, fraud and abuse of these programs?

Social security is a ponzi scheme. If life expectancy is 78, as you stated, that means the gov't takes it from us for 50 years (approx. work time) and only pays us for 8 years before we die. If people put what the gov't takes into their own 401k for 50 years, they would be fine.
