I feel as if the republicans truly cared they would have done something about immigration and asylum the same time they gave the very wealthy a huge tax break, priorities right
Our asylum process is exploited daily. It’s unfair for so many: for migrants with real asylum claims, for those who are trafficked & forced to make the dangerous trip, for legal immigrants, for border agents. Can we all agree this needs to change?https://washex.am/2GKtBsv

Well I’m certainly not very wealthy and I got a tax cut, too. But you do know that taxes and immigration are different pieces of legislation. And you do realize to get immigration through the Senate you need some Democrats.

So very, very tired of hearing how we (Congress) need to change the asylum laws and all the other noise about this issue while doing absolutely nothing about it. Introduce a resolution, sponsor a bill... my gosh do something!

Ok, so, there are 5.6 million refugees from the Syrian conflict, also 6 million internally displaced. The US has taken in 33,000. Much of the burden has fallen on neighboring countries (e.g. 1m in Lebanon). If you actually cared, you'd be suggesting upping that 33,000 number.

As long as one party aims to get power by giving free stuff including opening our border for presumed voters, along with incarcerated felons we are doomed. We as a nation have a big heart, social security safety net, medicaid, medicare, food stamps, CHiP, and more. Charity too
