We all should be able to agree that in the United States of America, we will not intentionally separate children from their parents. We will not do that. We are better than that! We are so much better!

Today, I had a call with HHS and am extremely disappointed with the lack of information they gave to Members of Congress. They refuse to answer our questions. They do not have a concrete plan to reunite these families. I am growing more concerned for the future of these children.

This is a cruel and harmful policy that was aggravated by the Administration’s lack of basic humanity in thinking ahead of time about how it would bring these families back together.

It is disgraceful that the Trump Administration had no plan to reunite children after tearing them away from their parents, and it is even more disgraceful that they are now trying to delay the court-ordered deadline for doing so.

.: It is a prime example of how the Trump Administration is zealously promoting the interests of oil companies, gas companies, and other industries at the expense of American families.

.: President Trump’s decision to keep Pruitt on far too long—and to lavish praise on him even today for ‘an outstanding job’—is the opposite of draining the swamp.

. on resignation: Scott Pruitt’s petty grifting and pervasive corruption are known far and wide, but it will take generations to fully reverse the widespread harm he inflicted on our air, our water, and the health of our people.

At 2:33 p.m. today, please join us in a moment of silence to honor the five members of our Capital Gazette family that we lost in last week's deadly attack.

Today, I issued a statement in recognition of Independence Day. We live in a great country, but there is still work to be done. This holiday serves as a reminder that we have to keep fighting for freedoms for every person within our borders.

Gun violence has become a daily occurrence in America, and we have to decide if this is the kind of country we want to be. As Americans we must be united in our grief and our outrage, but we must also be united in our resolve to do more to reduce gun violence in our communities.

This act of hate cannot be divorced from the rhetoric coming from President Trump and his supporters, who routinely call the press ‘the enemy of the people.’ Those vile words have consequences, but no shooting will ever change who we are or the values that make us American.

These men and women were targeted for doing their job - reporting on the community they cherished and constantly seeking the truth. The shooter, who had a history of harassing women, took exception with their honest reporting of the facts and resorted to senseless violence.

  20. My heart goes out to the families and victims of the shooting at the Capital Gazette. We have had to witness far too many of these atrocities, and it is time to put an end to them. I will continue to monitor the scene, and ask you all to keep the victims in your prayers.

  21. The House GOP’s “opioid week” failed to address the crisis by providing adequate treatment funding. My bill with , The CARE Act, is supported by the entire House Dem leadership and 60+ Members, but the GOP blocked debate on it.
