Today, the House passed my bill, the Expanding Access to Capital for Rural Job Creators Act, to help rural small businesses access the capital they need to start and grow their businesses. The Act will ensure we continue to create good-paying jobs in rural America.

If we’re to effectively address the situation at our southern border, we must listen to border landowners, law enforcement, and the men and women in green and blue. I will continue to listen to our border communities and advocate for bipartisan solutions to confront this crisis.

The problem is that this consequence is tied to Title 8. We need a policy under Title 8 where expedited removal will take days instead of months. Asylum-seekers should apply online, or go through a port of entry in an orderly process. (5/5)

We now need a policy of consequences for those who are returned to Mexico or their country of origin. Under current law, there is a 5 year ban on requesting asylum for those who are returned because they did not follow the law. We need this consequence applied. (4/5)

There are two solutions to mitigating a crisis at our southern border: -> Keep Title 42 until the U.S. develops a policy with an orderly pathway for asylum-seekers, and strong consequences for those who don’t follow that policy. -> Have Mexico enforce its own immigration laws.

Title 42 is on the cusp of being lifted, and a migration surge is expected in its wake. My understanding is that the Administration’s plan is to ask Mexico to divert all migrant traffic from Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas down to the Rio Grande Valley Sector. 1/7
