Congresswoman Cori Bush’s Tweets

Absolutely shameful. Rather than choosing to lead with love, Missouri Republicans are pushing hateful legislation targeting our LGBTQ+ community. We will defend the fundamental right of LGBTQ+ people to exist without harm or harassment, especially our youth.

Missouri Republicans have proposed more anti-LGBTQ+ legislation than any other state in the country, according to data from the @ACLU. advocate.com/news/missouri-

I’m encouraged by the Biden-Harris Admin efforts to ease rising housing costs for millions of renters. This Renters’ Bill of Rights Blueprint confirms federal interventions are needed to keep our renters in safe & stable housing. One step closer to achieving #HousingforAll!

I’m sending extra love in solidarity with the AAPI community in St. Louis🧡 We continue to witness acts of violence toward our AAPI neighbors. We will not tolerate it. We must lead with love & rise up against hate - in all its forms.

Deeply concerned by reports of violence by Peruvian forces on protesters. The Peruvian government must respect human rights and conduct an independent & transparent investigation into civilian deaths. Democracy & accountability must prevail.

Protests in Peru that began more than a month ago over the ouster of the former president have grown in size and scope, representing a profound frustration with the country’s young democracy. “This democracy is no longer a democracy,” protestors shout. nyti.ms/3QMeEdg

I’m lost for words. In less than 48 hours, another mass shooting claiming 7 victims. This needs to stop. All my love remains with these victims, their families, their loved ones and entire our AAPI community.

Last week, police killed Tortuguita, a climate justice protester in Atlanta who was defending a forest set to be destroyed for Cop City, a police training center. I am calling for an independent investigation into their death. There must be accountability.

My heart goes out to the victims, families, our entire AAPI community, & all those affected by last night’s shooting in Monterey Park. It is appalling that yet another mass shooting has happened. Congress must act NOW to put an end to preventable gun tragedies.

Awful. The LAPD is shamefully trying to cover up its officers’ brutality through smear tactics. We’ve seen this before, & we see through your self-serving deception. We won't stop until the LAPD & the officers involved in Keenan Anderson's killing are rightly held accountable.
Quote Tweet
The drug tests performed on Keenan Anderson’s body were not released as part of an official autopsy. Instead, the LAPD conducted its own drug tests and announced the results in an unambiguous effort to denigrate and blame its victim. interc.pt/3GUO8de

13 Missouri clergy members filed a lawsuit against the state’s illegal abortion ban. As clergy myself, I support equitable access to reproductive care because of my faith — not in spite of it. Proud to see our local faith leaders taking action to affirm our fundamental rights.

Thirteen clergy members from six religious backgrounds have filed a lawsuit challenging Missouri’s abortion ban ahead of #RoeVWade’s 50th Anniversary. “Missouri’s abortion bans are an unconscionable abuse of religion to oppress all Missourians.” news.stlpublicradio.org/government-pol

Dr. King said: “No person has the right to rain on your dreams.” I was proud to stand tall in the rain yesterday with STL leaders to commemorate his legacy. Like Dr. King, we dream of a just world, and together we won’t stop fighting to make our dream a reality.

Dr. King spoke truth to power. Years later, we continue to follow in his historic footsteps by committing ourselves to ending injustice everywhere it exists.

The ERA was introduced 100 years ago, meaning it’s older than: 🚥Traffic Signals 💊Antibiotics 🖊Ballpoint Pens 💻Computers It should not take 100 years to enshrine gender equality in the Constitution. We need the #ERANOW.

The argument in the case against ’ student debt relief plan rests on their claim that states, like Missouri, rely on the revenue of loan servicers like MOHELA. Interesting since hasn't paid its debt to the state in over a decade.
Quote Tweet
NEW: MOHELA—the rogue student loan servicer suing the Biden admin’s student debt relief program—hasn’t paid on its own debts in more than a decade. Another crucial piece of evidence ripping the rug from under this frivolous lawsuit. marketwatch.com/story/student-

I was proud to join Rep. and elected officials from the U.S. and Brazil in condemning the far-right insurrections in Brazil on January 8th, 2023, and on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021. We must stand united against threats to democracy.

Today, we led over 70 elected officials from the United States and Brazil in condemning recent insurrections in our countries and the coordination between far-right agitators. Here’s what we said: theguardian.com/world/2023/jan

Thank you for sharing your story—I know it’s hard, but it is so important to so many. We will continue to fight this together until everyone can access the life-saving abortion care they need.

Today, I relived one of the most painful times in my life on the House floor. I shared my experience of being forced to carry my dead baby. Prohibited by law to induce labor, I carried my deceased child inside me for two months and almost died. We can't go back.

Thank you to all the advocates & partners who submitted amicus briefs in support of 's life-changing, student debt relief plan. Together, we will prevail over exploitative student loan servicers & far-right attorneys general attempting to hold borrowers hostage.

Today, Republicans are advancing two bills furthering their attack on our reproductive freedoms & healthcare providers. Let’s be clear—if they cared about children, they would invest in social services for parents & infants instead of blocking life-saving social funding.

2023 marks the 100th year of the Equal Rights Amendment—a century without delivering equal rights for women & all people. It was wonderful to meet with & feel the energy of our youth. Let us ensure they are the last generation born into a world without the ERA!

FWIW: The 's Weaponization Select Subcommittee is a fascist power grab to evade accountability for 1/6. They don't care about government weaponization against Black & brown communities, for example. They just want access to investigations into them & their cult leader Trump.

🔈REMINDER: weakened our democracy and used our freedoms as bargaining chips to get his gavel. Last night, House Republicans voted on an extreme MAGA plan for the next two years—including launching their drive to criminalize abortion nationwide.

Allowing this hateful and racist symbol to be displayed on the House floor without proper investigation would be irresponsible, malicious & violent towards our colleagues, staff, and constituents. So what do you plan on doing about this, ?
