Sad day, we’ve lost the Queen. What an amazing woman #QueenOfSoul

She truly demonstrates how greatness inspires greatness, especially when it comes from our city. Perhaps this memorial could be at Health and Sciences Park, honoring who and what we should. Black history, black excellence, and the want to inspire everyone in Memphis.

Agree...and surprised that hasn't happened already.

That's a great idea. She should be immortalized in a statue in her memory.

My husband and I was just talking about her home here and how hard it was to get the funds to restore it. I wonder now will the city get behind the restoration. If so I will only visit her home in DETROIT! Aretha to many of us is bigger than Elvis...but HER home just sits.

This seems important, powerful and a day of heartbreaking loss. A monument seems appropriate.

I totally agree! She was also a great contributor to the civil rights movement. She helped activists post bail, supported organizers financially, and toured the U.S with MLK. Our Civil Rights Museum should also honor her for her social contributions!

Maybe Court Square can be renamed Aretha Franklin Park. Her music is being played there today.
