Rep. Pappas, how exactly do you expect those standards to be enforced when you already voted to give the Trump administration the money needed to run those camps? Where was that commitment to humanitarian ideals then?
I'm pleased that H.R. 3239, which I co-sponsored, passed the House tonight. It enacts basic humanitarian standards for people in Customs and Border Protection custody—including nutrition, sanitation, & shelter. This is about who we are as a country, and we cannot turn our backs.
