You are required to be paid under the constitution. Article I, Section 6, of the Constitution. You might read it sometime.
As someone who has run a small business, I could not imagine receiving a paycheck while any of my employees are working without pay. My first official act as a member of Congress is to reject a paycheck until Congress does its job and the government is re-opened.pic.twitter.com/FpjPZfFi6s

Good idea, maybe the DC food bank charity SOME (So Others Might Eat). They do good work, and federal workers in the area may end up relying on them.
