At a macro level, over 33 million Americans have filed for unemployment over the past seven weeks. We've lost more jobs in just that time than we created in the recovery from the Great Recession that began in 2010!
But beyond "just" the jobs and economic impact, social scientists and public health experts have failed to consider second- and third-order impacts of 30 to 50 million Americans losing their jobs.

Right now, people need liquidity to pay their rent, mortgage, buy food, etc. Such as occured with prior disasters. Wall St corporate donors got cash to help boost the stock market. Main St needs the same to keep people in homes and keep businesses a float.
The fact is that most of these jobs were not lost but merely postponed. That is different from permanently losing their jobs. People presenting statistics about this need to clarify. But I think they like the effect the exaggeration brings.
