We were presented a reasonable short-term goal, with time to prepare, and we embraced it to "socially distance," pause and save lives. But governments at all levels have taken it too far with prolonged, widespread shutdowns that are putting the very fabric of our nation at risk.

At a macro level, over 33 million Americans have filed for unemployment over the past seven weeks. We've lost more jobs in just that time than we created in the recovery from the Great Recession that began in 2010!

The reason we are not, in most cases, ready to reopen is the shortage of testing and PPE for those who administer the tests, and the capacity to trace and isolate. That is because of the months wasted by Trump, and Congress' abdication of responsibility.

You would literally have to test every person every day in the nation to do this and that can't be done. It was never about STOPPING it. Just slowing it enough to NOT overwhelm the hospitals. We've done that. Now it's time to take the next step and let it slow burn thru society.
