Yesterday, @RepDeanPhillips and I introduced the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act to provide essential flexibility to PPP loans.
For many business owners, particularly local restaurants, hotels, and those in the hospitality industry, the PPP terms are too inflexible.
My district, #TX21, is home to the most restaurants per capita in Texas, employing more than 50,000 Texans. We've watched many of our favorite restaurants and institutions close for good over the past few weeks.
It isn't a Republican or Democratic problem. It's an American one.
After listening and meeting with business owners and employees, we are introducing a bill to provide much-needed flexibility to the PPP loan requirements. Love seeing a bi-partisan effort. Can I add refinancing SBA Loans to this? Rather than forbearance, Refi, stretch the terms, and lessen the monthly payment. This should minimize defaults. Benefits Lender and Loan holder. Gives us time to get revenues back to "normal" levels
I'm not sure, but it may be mathematically impossible under the current @SBAgov rules for a self-employed sole proprietor to reach 75% of the maximum allowable amount of their PPP loan as payroll (2.5 x monthly earnings from the previous year vs 8 weeks from the previous yr)

This is a PR move. PPP is for the people, this just means businesses get to keep $$ and the workers get nothing. Political shock and awe, Chip's trying to confuse and confound. Support local businesses, it's not hard. Vote People!
