Today is the 36th Anniversary of the Beirut Terrorist Attack.
On this day in 1983, 241 Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers lost their lives after a terrorist drove a truck full compressed gas-enhanced explosives into the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines Headquarters.

Two days later, Reagan invaded Grenada, effectively deflecting the US attention from the Lebanon disaster. That was the day I realized how cynical, manipulative the GOP was and how gullible the US public had become. Been a solid Democrat ever since.
