Does anyone know why donations have not been accepted?
Last week, I was proud to drop a bill that would allow donations of diapers + other goods to @CBP.

Jaw droppingly amazing to me that one would have to have a federal law passed to allow citizens to donate goods to underprivileged poor people, regardless of status

If you’ve ever had experience running a donations facility then you would understand why restrictions exist. These facilities can’t do their regular job and now they’re a donation facility? It’s not a matter of need, there’s no shortage of supplies. It’s a leadership issue.

So we’re turning these facilities, who can’t be managed properly in the first place, into donation drop offs now? It’s obvious you’ve had zero experience handling donations during a crisis.

Why are families being separated? Why are desperate refugees not allowed to seek asylum? Why don’t we know whose children are in the CBP facilities? Why do we pay up to $750/detainee/day to hold people for months in squalid conditions? Yes, accept donations, but fix the system!
