ICE Directive 11002.1 was not only an affront to management of the asylum process per statute but also the purpose of Expedited Removal in accordance w/ 8 U.S.C. § 1225. I applaud Rep. Roy for pointing out something the Admin should have done within the first few weeks in office.
Last month, my colleagues and I sent letters to @realDonaldTrump
and @DHSMcAleenan offering specific actions the administration should consider and adopt to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis at our southern border.

I agree with the concept and eventual practice of Border Patrol Agents acting as ad-hoc Asylum Officers, but I question why there has been no talk; at least publicly of giving CBP’s Office of Field Operations the same flexibility at Ports of Entry?
