The consequence of Chip Roy holding up this disaster aid isn’t that it won’t get passed, or that he’ll constrain the spending, or that he’ll get the spending he wants in the form of a wall. He just delays the money from getting to the people who need it.

Or we have held the position that spending should be offset. Money for border security should be offset. Might just be why I (+43) sent a letter to @SpeakerPelosi requesting she #HoldToTheCaps. If we simply do that, we continue running trillion-dollar deficits. Happy to discuss!

But it won’t be... So, again, the practical effect of this exercise is that you’re just delaying the money to make a point while actual people are in need.

Also, just read your letter. One question: You say we need to hold to the caps, but you also wrote we should do so “while ensuring our men and women in uniform have the tools necessary to do their job.” Does that mean you want to break the defense cap? Hold the line on defense?

Chip either doesn’t understand where money comes from, which is shocking for a Congress person. Or he’s lying. Same with all other politicians who think the gov “debt” is a problem rather than household debt. Bank credit = Private debt Gov “debt” = Private net savings
