This comes out to 1.8 cars rehabilitated per month. At what cost? Cost including parts, labor, cost of pensions. Numbers don’t lie. How long would a new car last and at what cost? I think there might be more to the story here.
Yesterday I stopped by @Metra’s facilities to learn about their work rehabilitating rail cars. In the past decade, they have successfully revitalized 214 passenger cars, extending their life by 10-14 years. Interesting so for the past 10 years they’ve been rebuilding cars to last 10-14 years..... so where exactly are we now? Cars with between 0-4 years of life left? Sounds precarious.
