For months, my colleagues & I have been fighting to improve key provisions of the Trump-negotiated deal that included weak enforcement and labor standards, as well as giveaways to drug companies. But we won and improved the agreement.
This agreement protects American workers, ensures that America can act to lower its prescription drug prices, and maintains American agriculture export markets.
And lastly, it strengthens our trade relationship with our closest trading allies and supports 12 million American jobs, as well as the 120,000 U.S. small and medium-size businesses, which sell their goods and services to Canada & Mexico.
No trade deal is perfect, but under the #USMCA, the trade rules for America will now be fairer.
