It is heartbreaking. Newsom passed over 15 gun laws and also passed a law that prohibits teachers from punishing disruptive students. Kids know they can get away with things with no fear of punishment.

Hi, California already has universal background checks. This was a 15 year old kid, already barred from owning firearms therefore he didn't pass a background check before he got it anyway.

California needs to conduct universal background checks on 15 year olds who aren’t allowed to possess guns, and pass more laws saying you can’t shoot people. This will definitely stop school shootings.

The problem is that it is a patchwork of laws. For example Chicago has tough gun laws and lots of gun violence but that is because they come over from Indiana where the laws are more lax.

One cannot legislate the maniacs off the street ... these maniacs can only be shut down by an armed citizenry. Indeed bad things can happen in nations where the citizenry is armed, but not as bad as those which seem to be threatening our disarmed citizenry in this country.
