October is #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth. 1 in 4 women experience severe physical abuse from an intimate partner in their lifetimes. This month and every month, we must raise awareness on domestic violence and honor the survivors who are bravely telling their stories.

I’m proud that one of my first big achievements in Congress was getting my amendment that ensures campus faculty are trained to recognize the signs of domestic violence & sexual assault added into this year’s Violence Against Women Act.

Thank you, Rep. Casten for standing up for women and children who have had to live through this type of abuse. As you know, domestic abuse can be both emotional and physical, and at times the emotional abuse that we (women) have had to endure is worse than the physical scars.
