Today’s tragedies in Odessa and Midland are heartbreaking and completely senseless. How many more of these massacres do we need to see for there to be action by my Republican counterparts in the Senate?http://on.wsj.com/2NI578x

It is clear with that something needs to be done to help keep Americans safe. No child should have to worry about an active shooter, when they leave for school in the morning. No mother should have to worry about getting shot, when taking her family out to run errands.

I call upon the Senate to come back early to pass the bipartisan background check legislation of H.R. 8 and H.R. 1112, which the House passed months ago. Congress must also discuss other measures like an assault weapons ban and red flag laws.
