This week, I visited Puente Del Pueblo in West Chicago. This program provides afterschool care to children that live in local apartments. Play is crucial to any child’s development & I’m glad that this program gives opportunities to those that wouldn’t have them otherwise.pic.twitter.com/IJugoUznH0

A better solution is 2B cared 4 by ones parents. Reducing taxes on parents w/children would reduce need 4 both parents 2 work. OR giving them the option to work hours that allow them to pick up their children. Govt is NOT a solution.. but strong families are the BEST solution.

Why would they not get care. West Chicago’s Hispanic working people are some of the hardest working people on earth. Why do you feel compelled to give them things. Pandering?

That's not the point. No matter how hard their parents work, there are structural & institutional barriers that exist in our system for people of color because people within the system are biased, prejudiced, & hateful. We have a responsibility to promote equity for ALL.
