  I have been told to ‘love it or leave it’ in the 1960s and 70s as I exercised my Constitutional rights protesting the VietNam War and America’s stance on civil rights. I was told to leave and didn’t pay any attention. It offends me to hear POTUS use those words

  They would have told you to go back home in earlier historical periods like the 1850s when the "Know-Nothings" were active, or the turn of the twentieth century when WASPs were fighting tooth-and-nail to prevent Irish, Italian, and other immigrants from voting.
