The men and women who work at the @Austal_USA shipyard in Mobile are the finest in the country. I disagree with the Navy's decision on the Guided-Missile Frigate, and I look forward to thoroughly examining the Navy’s decision making in this process.
I'm committed to working with @Austal_USA , the @USNavy, and the @realDonaldTrump Administration to ensure we don't destroy our critical shipbuilding industrial base, especially at a time when the threat environment clearly demands more small surface ships.
If @Austal_USA survives they will need to develop a new business plan to include Coast Guard ships and/or foreign military ships assuming they can divide the yard when current Navy contract expires in several years. Hope for the best.
