As I have said from the start, I’m opposed to tolling a new bridge over the Mobile River, and ALDOT's revised tolling plan is still unacceptable. South Alabamians cannot shoulder the burden of over $1,000 a year just for commuting to work.

Byrne consistently evaded the toll question with an “it’s out of my hands” response until a “No-Toll” group organized. That group now has about 25K members and is still growing. Now, all of a sudden, he’s always been staunchly opposed. Can’t lose those votes!!

Don’t like the toll? Take the causeway for free. It isn’t like anyone is forced to pay $1,000 per year to cross mobile bay. Get the bridge built!
