In 2016, Congress passed legislation that I authored to amend the Clay Hunt Act to require the VA to analyze the efficacy of suicide prevention programs based on gender.

This new data will help the VA and policymakers have a better understanding of where to focus resources, especially for female veterans, who face a suicide rate 250 percent higher than civilian women.

It's now 2018. Have there been any new studies reflecting current rates? Has this law been effective? I've not heard of any great strides in prevention of veteran suicides.

Believe me. There is nothing. If you are VA eligible and suicidal they will admit you to a psych unit where there is no counseling available. It's just to physically prevent follow through. No help is given.
