For months, our intelligence agencies have been warning of continued attacks on our elections from Russia. Yet, House Republicans put forward government funding bill yesterday that completely eliminates federal election assistance grants to help states secure our voting systems.

Given everything we know about Russia’s continued interference in our elections, it is simply unconscionable that Republicans in Congress are refusing to take steps to protect the very soul of our democracy.

Sadly, instead of attacking these known threats, their funding bill is focused on attacking our environment and undermining clean air, clean water, public lands, & endangered species protections. Budgets are statements of values, and this bill does not represent Ventura County’s.
