Agree with you in principle but still seems vague for solutions. How do we keep the border secure? Haven’t we tried and failed for a long time? How do we discourage illegal immigration while also being humane to those attempting it? Specific solutions would help.

Are we failing? Illegal border crossings are down, and have been declining for years. Accepting that it will never be 0, what metric are we using to say if we're succeeding or failing?
