Victims of domestic violence, predominantly women, who come from countries where the perpetrator is not investigated, charged or jailed, should be protected, not returned for more abuse.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is absolutely wrong – federal law specifically provides for U visas for individuals who are escaping domestic violence. Because that is who we are as a nation. For these same reasons, I introduced the “Protect Victims of Crime Act” to expand the U visa program for survivors of serious crimes, which will strengthen law enforcement’s ability to go after criminals and protect survivors from future abuse.
