Victims of domestic violence, predominantly women, who come from countries where the perpetrator is not investigated, charged or jailed, should be protected, not returned for more abuse.

For these same reasons, I introduced the “Protect Victims of Crime Act” to expand the U visa program for survivors of serious crimes, which will strengthen law enforcement’s ability to go after criminals and protect survivors from future abuse.

In Congress, I will continue to fight to see this bill become law and ensure survivors of domestic abuse are protected under the law.
