With all due respect from a constituent and campaign volunteer... I believe very strongly that this is beyond a mental health crisis... it is very clearly a gun crisis.
The horror of #ElPaso. The horror of never ending gun violence. I pledge to be in any room in Washington willing to address the scourge of this violence and the gaps in mental health plaguing our nation. Condolences to the people of Texas and many thanks to those who saved lives.

Anthony please don't join the chorus of people blaming and stigmatizing people who suffer mental illness. Most mentally ill people are not violent and are more likely to be victims than perpetrators.

NO, as a mental health professional, retired, THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. The USA does not have a monopoly on mental health issues or a need for better treatment! We far outpace any other country except actual war zones in gun violence. We DO have WAY more guns, and a racist POTUS.

Every other country in the world has citizens with mental illness. It is false to blame this on 'mental illness'. If that was the 'cause', it would be happening across the planet. It is not.

Yes, mental health does need to be addressed, but it cannot be a one prong approach. We need Federal gun legislation. Texas gun laws: no background checks, open carry, no registration, no limit on clips. The racism being spewed from the mouth of the President

The US does not have a monopoly on mental health issues or a monopoly on the need for better treatment. It has a monopoly on access to guns and large magazines. I am all for better mental health services, but on this issue, it is a distraction.

Ron, you know people who have a mental health diagnosis. How many people have they shot? Blaming this crisis on the mentally ill is SO disrespectful to most people with a diagnosis, as very, very, very few are violent. Sad.
