I agree with members on both sides of the aisle that declaring a national emergency sets a dangerous precedent, undermines the role of Congress and our Constitution, & distracts from our ability to find serious, long-term solutions.

An interesting snippet from CNN daily 5-things news: Fun fact: Way back in 2014, Donald Trump said President Obama's executive action on immigration was unconstitutional and possibly an impeachable offense.

Why not have the President confiscate the private property he’ll need for the wall first? Without the land, there’s no where to build. After all of the GOP signs on for eminent domain, we can talk about construction funds.

It may be time for Congress to formally define what constitutes a National Emergency and the powers of the president under a National Emergency Powers act.

If you vote for a national emergency I'll ensure you're a one term Congressman.

Judging how this district votes it’s a good chance that he will be.

A wall will do nothing to fix our immigration issues. It will just make a lot of rich contractors even richer.

That's the problem guys, there IS no vote on this. The Constitution says Congress appropriates. The President is NOT a King and he acts like an 'enfante terrible'.
