The people of Minneapolis and around the country are demanding justice for their fallen neighbor. But let’s be clear, these protests are not just about George Floyd.
They are about the injustices (Big and small) experienced by Black Americans every day. Injustices that have created a second class citizenship status and an atmosphere that allows a racist fool like Donald Trump to threaten to start shooting “thugs.”
We have a very serious problem in this country. A problem that can’t be solved by looting or by violence (from the state or the people) but as Dr. King said, “riots are the language of the unheard.” If we don’t listen to what is being said we will never find peace.
