I'm introducing the Essential Pay for Essential Workers Act. It would pay essential workers an additional $15/hr in compensation on top of regular pay, recognizing the higher risk of infection for those workers required to keep critical facilities running.https://watsoncoleman.house.gov/newsroom/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1676 …

Where is the extra $15 coming from?

Could take it from the war budget. Could undue tax cuts for the rich. Could just print money and throw it around like they've been doing for the past two months. This question is one that only jackasses ask as a gotcha point with no substance

all I see is "could do's" which I agree with... But NONE OF THOSE DETAILS ARE PROVIDED in the link above You don't understand small businesses... We are not McDonald's or Chase... We don't have an extra $600/wk PER EMPLOYEE built into the model... But yeah go off

Way to assume what I do and don't know about business based on a rebuttle of "how do they pay for it" you do realize that legislation changes once its introduced, right? Any funding models listed would be subject to change. I just listed some options

Maybe a less triggering phrase would be "who foots the bill?" But the problem remains... A 50 employee SMB is being asked to pay out an extra $30,000 a week in wages ($15*40hrs*50emps) Most blue collar SMBs don't have that kind of margin This is why the left loses

I agree with your funding options, I am disappointed none of them are in the proposal. I'd love nothing more than to increase pay for workers but if it's not sustainable and there's no aide then SMBs will simply shutdown This is why the left loses

How do you know? This link is the ouine of a bill that is about to be introduced. Its not the actual text of the bill so you're just assuming there is no funding for it

I'm assuming it doesn't exist because it wasn't reported on but that's fair... Will follow up when details emerge

The employer provides the $15 per hour cost upfront and it's treated as a 100% tax credit.

Can't believe you read this... thats awesome! Thank you Rep. Coleman 😀 Follow Up: As long as SMBs can claim tax credits in a timely manner this is something they should look forward to. Let's hope this passes
