I have heard people say the same thing about doctors and hospitals. I am not quite sure how to think about that, If a for-profit prison can provide a good service and help reduce recidivism, what is the problem?
Studies have shown prisoners in for-profit prisons serve longer and have the same rate of recitivism as other prisons. With for-profit prisons being paid per occupied bed they have an incentive to keep them full. Which isn’t always in the best interest of the state (or taxpayers)

I see. I just know that Chuck Colson worked for prison reform and worked on faith-based solutions. The prison system has become “too costly, punitive and government empowering.” I assume you like “The First Step Act” passed last year. We need bi-partisan answers.
