My colleagues @RepRoKhanna and @SenSherrodBrown and I have introduced bills that address these 4 improvements:
1. Raising the amount received
2. Extending EITC into the middle class
3. Including caregivers and students
4. Allowing for monthly payments.
Is anyone considering protecting EITC from student loan offset? Seems counter-intuitive to give EITC to "struggling americans" then offset the EITC while they are obviously struggling enough to not repay the debt.
You and your colleagues are hopefully making a dent for so many that just don't have the means. I remember in my heyday, I had to work 2 & 3 jobs to make it, now folks don't even have that luxury - less jobs available now. Thanks for helping those less fortunate.
