It appears that most of the people we hear about who are suffering are the workers who are not being paid. What actual services are being curtailed? Maybe we can take this opportunity to reassess our bloated government and phase out "non-essential" services.

Maybe we could take this “opportunity” to have empathy and compassion for the people who provide service, and services, to the public. Maybe we could reimagine the needs of a doctor’s office: you don’t really need to have your garbage picked up, you should do that yourself.

To the NJ Congressional delegation: Please consider Chef José Andrés of World Central Kitchen for a Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian service in Puerto Rico, during wildfires in California and now furloughed government workers. Thank you! Molly Sword McDonough
