Trump just spewed disgusting, xenophobic lies to convince people there’s a crisis at the border, even pitching that this crisis is a problem for Black and Latino Americans. Of all the crises our country faces, of all the crises people of color face, border security isn’t one.
There will be fact checks all night on his remarks, but there’s no fact checking necessary for @SpeakerPelosi and @SenSchumer response: there’s a bipartisan solution at the ready for whenever Trump decides to end the shutdown.
Then we can discuss what’s really, happening, and what’s needed, at the border. There’s a humanitarian crisis, and I can promise you it’s not going to be solved by a wall.
But it is a crisis. I have heard of businesses in New Brunswick which only want to hire illegals because they can pay them less. This hurts Americans who need jobs. Trump is not lying. But I do not think you will agree with anything he says.
I’m significantly less concerned about any illegal immigrant who walked hundreds of miles to be here than I am his supporters that he called “very fine people” (with torches)
