Wednesday, the House GOP passed a bill that would cut veterans’ health care, education, public safety, and removes health care from millions of Americans, and sends manufacturing jobs overseas. Once again, MAGA House Republicans are making life harder for everyone but the rich.

Yesterday’s GDP report showed the American economy remains strong as it transitions to steady and stable growth. Our economy added more than 1 million jobs during the first quarter, and the unemployment rate is nearing a 50-year low.

Defaulting would jeopardize Social Security payments for 88,000 families in NJ-12 and put health benefits at risk for 239,000 who rely on Medicare, Medicaid, or Veterans Affairs health coverage. It would threaten the retirement savings of 104,800 people near retirement.

The lack of tree cover in urban areas leads to dangerously high temperatures, much higher than shaded suburbs. The SHADE Act will create a grant program under to plant trees in formerly redlined areas graded “hazardous” and “definitely declining.”
