#DidYouKnow the average Social Security recipient gets $1,400 per month? Makes it tough for seniors to afford groceries, bills, healthcare, Rx + everything else. That's why I am fighting to #ExpandSocialSecurity!

Was social security intended to be a retirement program? Should I cancel my 401k and quit making retirement plans because the government is going to take care of me? Is this your personal recommendation? We can’t afford it as it stands. You want to expand it?

Obviously this lady does not know the history of SS. It is a safety net supplement for retirement and was not meant as the majority part of your retirement income. Over time people have come to believe that they don't have to save because they will get SS.

Hey that's what the liberals tell everyone we will take care if you so you don't have to. And people fall for it. It's sad really.

I have been telling people for decades to figure out much they need a month to live and then multiply the average SS payment, in this case $1400/month, which equals $16,800/yr. Then I ask them "can you live on $16,800/yr? They then begin to freak out.

I have seen this many times. It is sad but people don't realize that all one has to do is start by saving as young as possible no matter what it is. Invest it in the S&P 500 and let time and earnings take care of the rest. This is the basic Couch Potato investment approach.

I am a woman..have done the exact same jobs as a man but got paid less..I am 62 and can't get healthcare nor work. I make $642.00 a month. $450 goes to rent, 35 for car insurance, I can't afford medicine nor a doctor. I won't go into other expenses but can you live on this?

Get disability. It takes awhile but at least you can get Medicare. Did you take early retirement at 62? Then SS pays less because you put less into it (I'm sure you know that) but SSI might pay more with a proven condition. Just trying to help 🌹

Yes I did..I had no choice..I didn't have insurance through employment and couldn't get it in Oklahoma..I have lupus and it has gone crazy since I moved here..but you can't live on nothing. When you don't even have the money for a doctor $150 up front. decisions..

So sorry. My mom had to do the same. She kept having seizures but they couldn't diagnose as an epileptic bcuz she wasn't a cookie cutter epileptic. Go figure. She was lucky enough to get into HUD housing for seniors to help w/rent.

Blame democrats for raping entitlement programs during the Obama administration. No jobs and no tax payers to fund it is intentional.

If someone is repeatedly laid off, they must not have skills very valuable to the marketplace.
