There are more than 11 million #Latinas in the workforce. But despite their vital contributions, Latinas face one of the largest pay gaps – making just 54 cents for every dollar paid to white men. We need to do better and ensure our economy works #ForThePeople. #HHM

Is it an economic issue or more of an issue of educational opportunities? I'm inclined to believe this stat is due to types of jobs Latinas (of all sexes) have available to them as opposed to white men who in general have better educational opportunities which lead to better jobs

...much of the earnings gap seems to be explained by a host of factors such as education, experience, immigrant status, and regional differences in cost of living.https://www.epi.org/publication/the-hispanic-white-wage-gap-has-remained-wide-and-relatively-steady-examining-hispanic-white-gaps-in-wages-unemployment-labor-force-participation-and-education-by-gender-immigrant/ …

The same report says the gap still exists after accounting for these factors and is may be due to discrimination.pic.twitter.com/OL8pdpen8r

When you compare WHITE MEN to LATINO WOMEN doing different jobs with vast differences in cost of living...yes. Kind of a shit comparison. Compare people doing same job in w/ same cost of living w/ similar experience & education. Discrimination is a factor in just pay but small.

Um...what? Discrimination determines access to educational opportunities. Discrimination keeps PoC out of certain jobs.

Exactly the point I made in my first post in this chain. It's more an education issue than an economic one. There are MANY factors. Discrimination plays a role in all of this to some degree as I already stated. Moving on...

Speaking of “paid white men” will you be endorsing Gavin Newsome for Governor? Definitely there is an underpaid Latina just as qualified for that well paying job. Yet you seem embrace white priviledge while speaking against it. Odd.

I am a white male that grew up in poverty. I worked my way through college and developed marketable skills. Yes, I get paid more. You're nothing but a race monger.

And there are about 26.36 million people employed on a part-time basis, which companies do to avoid paying benefits like healthcare.

The only way to effectively eliminate wage gaps is to eliminate capitalism. The goal should be decouple wealth and well-being. What you aim to do is to decouple wealth and Identity, which wont happen. That being said, Challenge Pelosi for speaker-ship you would do a better job.

Nice little endorsement for socialism!!! I saw an ad in the paper saying a job pays $20 per hour only if your a white man and $10 if you are an Hispanic woman. These ads are everywhere. I’m so glad you’re in the case.

This is a sad reality in our country, and it only reflects the ongoing injustice women have to face every day. Injustice based on nothing but and ethnic bias.

Raise federal minimum wage to $25 per hour. Businesses pay, do it themselves or go out of business
