    Deeply saddened by news of the passing of Bay Area legend Ruth Beckford. Ruth was a talented dancer and actor who used her gifts to inspire and uplift her Oakland community. She will be missed, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

    Today, we laid my dear friend and mentor Congressman Ron Dellums to rest in Arlington Cemetery. I learned so much working with Ron. He was a true warrior for peace and justice and leaves an extraordinary legacy that will endure. My condolences to his family. Rest In Peace.
