I voted tonight to build 55 miles of new physical barriers on the southern border, in addition to $22.5 billion in other border security measures. This is an important step to secure the US-Mexico border and ending the humanitarian crisis.
The bill also includes victories for ND. Rural North Dakotans, farmers and ranchers all benefit. While it’s far from perfect, the funding for the border barrier, 1200 new @CBP agents, along with the wins for the ND ag community outweigh my significant concerns with the bill.
I love how the GOP passed terrible policy that has forced farmers to declare bankruptcy and a tax bill that deeply and negatively impacts the lower & middle classes and then wants congratulations when they try to “fix” the terrible bills they passed.

When are we going to stop Omnibus Bills?? Our new spending package is over 1100 pages that i guarantee not a single person will read fully. Congress is suppose to vote and appropriate each specific spending priority individually. Not throw everything in one giant package.
I hope this means rural northern ND port of entries are open when locals want them open instead of our recently reduced hours halting all activities on both sides.
