Nine years ago today was the last time Congress raised the federal minimum wage. Today, millions of Americans are still struggling to make ends meet as the cost of living continues to climb. Congress should follow California’s lead and guarantee a living wage to all workers.
I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of the Raise the Wage Act which gradually increases the hourly federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15.00 by 2024 which will help reduce income inequality, increase consumer demand, and strengthen the economy for all Americans.
