From Facebook tonight: I just listened to an Adrian Smith telephonic town hall. I have never been more disappointed in rural Nebraskans or Mr. Smith. One man used the term “wetbacks” and Smith said nothing. Another said Democrats were going to ban churches. Smith said nothing.

2) A woman said Nancy Pelosi looked like a lemon and said Democrats were stupid. Nothing. Another denigrated Muslims and “illegals.” Zilch. The hatred was palpable and the Congressman offered absolutely no moral leadership. He pointed out no factual inaccuracies.

3) He made no attempt to heal division or laud diversity. I used to think Smith was nice enough, misguided and a little shallow perhaps, but I did not think he was supportive of the ugliest among us. I was wrong. I am crushed that these are my neighbors.
