series I want to honor the life of Harold Moss. His legacy can be described as a life achieving many “firsts”. He was the first African-American mayor of Tacoma & the first African-American to serve on the Pierce City Council & Tacoma City Council

He served in leadership positions for numerous organizations. He was the President of the Tacoma Chapter of the NAACP and worked to create the Urban League. He was active in the Tacoma community at a time when he faced overt racism.

He engaged in public offices since the late 1960’s and has persevered through successes and failures.
