The President's address failed to express even the slightest concern or support for hundreds of thousands of Americans living w/out paychecks because of this needless shutdown. It is wrong that the President & Congressional Republicans continue to hold workers & families hostage.
The President can and should re-open the government immediately. Democrats are always open to a fact-based discussion on the issues of border security and immigration reform, but the President’s remarks did nothing to advance that discussion.
To compromise is to make a deal between different parties where each party gives up part of their demand. Compromise is a concept of finding agreement through communication, through a mutual acceptance of terms, often involving variations from an original goal or desires.
If Trump actually wants protection for Dreamers and border security, what part of his "proposal" is a compromise?

Democratic leadership has proven repeatedly they are NOT willing to negotiate. @POTUS has spent 2 years trying to negotiate border security, with ZERO progress from Democrats. Do this now, then we’ll talk hasn’t worked for two years, other than proven it’s a lie.
9th voter here. It looks like a reasonable negotiation starter. Border Patrol says some new fencing is needed & something is needed for the kids. Make counter offer: less for a wall (3.5B?) and more time for DACA (5yr?). Sounds good to me.
The Antideficiency Act prohibits the government from reopening until Congress passes a budget. It's not an option. Start negotiating. #DoYourJob
