The Dignity For Detained Immigrants Act that I introduced with @RepJayapal would do just that – ensure the use of alternatives to detention and end the use of private prisons in immigration detention.

Do you know how bills get introduced and brought to the floor for a vote? You seem confused. Go to http://Congress.gov and check the status of the bill. See if your Rep is a cosponsor. If not, call them and tell them to cosponsor it. Get to work!
