Houston Independent School District now supplies 3 meals a day for all students that sign up. No student goes hungry!
In some low income schools, this is the only way that some families have children that eat 3 full meals a day.

I am old enough to remember when this wasn't a problem. Breakfast and lunch were provided at schools.
I am happy to say that here in Houston, where my daughter teaches, they now offer 3 free meals a day to any student requesting one. In low income schools, this is sometimes the only way these kids get 3 squares a day! I have a huge respect for teachers, so proud of my daughter.

You are lucky. I live in SC. I have to buy everything. My chair. Pens, pencils, markers, binders. Paper, folders, shelves, scissors, glue. I teach high school in a high poverty area so I supply most of my kids stuff too.
I don't understand how that can even work. It sounds like I wouldn't be able to afford that job!
