Ever wonder what a congressional district office does? This year, our constituent liaisons opened 1,800 cases, helping our neighbors in The Bronx and Queens navigate federal services like stimulus checks, immigration filings, PPP loans, Social Security, Medicare, and more.

For the first time in our nation’s history, the U.S. recognized its role as a colonizing force. The Puerto Rico Status Act lays out a process for the Island to decide its own future. It doesn’t favor statehood, independence, or free association. It allows Puerto Ricans to choose.

"[Was] that 25.5 hour window opened in exchange for any consideration offered to Bankman-Fried by the Bahamian AG or any state official, including a promise to initiate liquidation proceedings which might offer a path towards Bankman-Fried retaining some control over FTX?"

So, what do we do when we know a bill has the votes to pass even if we vote ‘no?’ We try to amend it. This year, we offered 7 amendments, and one of our amendments passed in the House and Senate. This amendment will provide international debt relief for developing countries.

The $857 billion budget that passed Congress this week is $45 billion higher than what the President requested. To put this number into perspective, it would cost $90 billion a year to cut child poverty in half, and $20 billion to end homelessness in the United States.

2⃣ Pardon immigrants. President Biden’s pardon only applied to citizens with federal marijuana charges. Many immigrants applying for citizenship could continue to face deportation or other adverse consequences for possessing a substance that is now legal in many states.

1⃣ Expungement. A pardon ends a prison sentence, but it doesn’t erase the charge from your record. People with simple marijuana possessions are still being blocked from accessing housing, employment and other resources. We must expunge records in addition to providing pardons.

Congress subsidizes oil & gas companies. Those companies then turn around & price gouge the very taxpayers who subsidize them. It's a vicious, nonsensical cycle that we have to end. House Dems passed the Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act. The Senate needs to do the same.
