    Update: Surprisingly FB neighborhood has accepted this. NextDoor neighbor has chosen to mansplain the cited article to me, and explain how Ring "isnt that bad" NB: he's refuted none of the points the EFF made. Tempted to ask him how many Ring devices he owns :D

    Again: the big risk of what happened in Iowa is not that the final outcome will be wrong; that's very unlikely given the paper records at precincts. The big risk is that it will appear "rigged" and discourage people from voting. How it's handled and reported now is critical. 1/

    It's not a voting system. It's a results reporting app. Please don't confuse this with a voting system.

    Iowa is charming and everything but let’s all admit that if we saw this sloppy, chaotic, slap-dash voting system employed in another country we’d call for UN election monitoring.

    That doesn’t absolve anyone for not testing the app before caucus. But it’s the same thing that happens in every election when modems for transmitting results fail or web sites reporting results go down. People have to wait for the results longer than they want to wait.

    The Iowa caucus debacle is about rapid reporting of results, not about voting itself. Please keep those two things separate. The votes are backed on paper. The problem was the delivery system for reporting results quickly.
